Make slits on okra. In a bowl, mix coconut, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt, red chilli powder and sugar to make a filling. Stuff the okra/lady fingers with half of this mixture.
Heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida and cumin seeds. When the seeds start crackling, add green chillies, stuffed okra/lady fingers and lemon juice. Cover and cook on a low flame for 10 minutes. Add the remaining stuffing mixture. Stir gently. Cover and cook further for 20-25 minutes or till the okra/lady fingers are tender. Garnish with coriander leaves.
